Tannhäuser [collection] : Handlung in drei Aufzügen / von Richard Wagner. 1870-1920.

Arranged in seven groups: I. Vocal scores (92). II. Vocal scores--Selections (1). III. Orchestra parts (47). IV. Chorus parts (6). V. Vocal parts (5). VI. Promptbooks (1). VII. Dialogue parts (10). A collection of vocal scores and orchestra parts for Wagner's opera "Tannhäuser" and a collection of dialogue parts, chorus parts, vocal parts, and a promptbook for Carl Binder's version ("parody") with the same title. The vocal scores include German/English editions by Novello (London, 187-?), Fürstner (Berlin, 1900-20?), Schirmer (New York, 189-?), and excerpts (Act I, sc. iii - Act II, sc. iv and Act III) published by Novello (London, 187-?). The collection also includes a German edition by Meser (Berlin, 188-?) and a French edition by Durand (Paris, 189-?). The orchestra parts occur as four (incomplete?) sets. Sets A and B are both manuscript and in Tams folders; Set B is for the "condensed version." Set C consists of three published string parts for the overture (one by Fürstner, and the others with pl. no. 350). Set D consists of three miniature manuscript stage band parts for Act I, sc. iv. Remaining materials in the collection are for Binder's three-act "parody" of Tannhauser. All are handwritten in German.
